Hi, I'm Ellie Kelland,
I'm a dog mum who experienced the heartbreak of losing my first dog, Clo, to cancer. It was a painful wake-up call to realise how much the commercial diet I fed her, had impacted her health. I had unknowingly poisoned her; all because of basic ignorance.
At a similar time, after having been myself a vegetarian for four years, my own body was starting to shut down. I underwent numerous blood tests, MRI scans and colonoscopies, yet no one could explain why. This is when I discovered how important the gut is... I had always followed a healthy Mediterranean diet, but when I went vegetarian, I introduced commercial 'fake meats' and my diet was no longer biologically appropriate. I started having meat cravings and even dreaming about it at night. My body was telling me "please give me what I need!". It was a cry for help. After consulting a nutritionist, I started eating meat and fish again, and within a week, I started to see improvements. All I had to do was listen to my body.
So, when I brought home my new rescue girl, Brandy, I was determined to do better for her. That's when I discovered the power of raw feeding. As a passionate advocate for the BARF diet, I am proud to be the first qualified BARF nutritionist in the UK, and I’m dedicated to sharing its benefits so other owners don't have to learn the hard way. My aim is to help as many dogs as I can, by teaching and empowering their owners with the nutritional knowledge I wish I'd had, helping them and their dogs live happy, healthy lives together.
My Qualifications
My passion for canine nutrition is backed by formal academic and professional training. I hold a 4-year degree in Veterinary Science, and I am a certified Animal Naturopath. I went on to become the UK's first certified BARF nutritionist, a qualification that combines the science of canine biology with the principles of biologically appropriate raw feeding. This means that when you book a consultation with BARF time, you are not getting generic advice from the internet — you are getting a personalised, expert-led feeding plan from someone with the knowledge, the credentials, and the lived experience to back it up.
